An AGM (Annual General Meeting) of the SAFIR members is held in the form of an annual SAFIR conference. One of the sessions in this conference is devoted to seeking the views of all members on SAFIR’s functioning, role, and future directions. Other sessions are used to discuss the general trends in the reforms process and key challenges that should be addressed. The members are encouraged to submit papers for the conference. Members of the Steering Committee and other members from various regulatory commissions are expected to act as panelists in this conference. The expenses (including travel and accommodation, etc.) for participation in the SAFIR meeting will be borne by the SAFIR members except for the Steering Committee members. The cost of the arrangements for such meetings will be met out of the annual membership fees.
The SCM (Steering Committee Meeting) and the ECM (Executive Committee Meeting) of the SAFIR members are also held once a year. The AGM is normally held back-to-back with the SCM/ECM.
A Chair is elected in each meeting from members present. The host entity reports on the activities of the previous year and submits accounts to the Steering Committee. The work plan for the following year is also finalized during this meeting.
The host entity also prepares the minutes of the above meetings and arranges to circulate them.
The first such meeting is organized by the host entity. Subsequently, the AGM/SCM shall be held by rotation in the member countries with a member from that country assuming responsibility for providing logistic support for the meeting.
