Presently the Secretariat of SAFIR is housed within Central Electricity Regulatory Commission, at Chanderlok building, 36, Janpath, New Delhi, India after which the secretariat shall be located at such place as may be decided by the Steering Committee from time to time. All the activities/Administrative function shall be carried out by SAFIR Secretariat housed at CERC.

Central Electricity Regulatory Commission is a statutory body functioning under sec - 76 of the Electricity Act 2003 (CERC was initially constituted under the Electricity Regulatory Commissions Act, 1998 on 24th July, 1998).
